Showcase Sunday #13

Inspired by Celine from Nyx Book Reviews, I've decided to combine several weekly wrap-up memes into one post. Showcase Sunday is hosted by Vicky at Books, Biscuits and Tea. Stacking the Shelves is hosted at Tynga's Reviews, and Sunday Post is hosted at Kimba the Caffeinated Book Reviewer. Letterbox Love is a special British book-haul meme hosted by Lindsey at Narratively Speaking.

Last Week:

Well, it's been a bit of an insane week! With being ill for almost all of the previous two weeks, I had a lot of built up work and emails to deal with before those pesky deadlines got too close. That's why things have been a bit slow on the blog, but hopefully I'll be able to get back to posting more again soon. I did read some amazing things while I wasn't feeling well though, so look out for reviews soon!

Last week's posts:

Eastercon - My Weekend

New Goodies:

Other Stuff:

I've only just found this amazing charity raffle from Mark Lawrence, author of Prince of Thorns and King of Thorns. I think this is such a great idea, as I've seen authors auctioning their manuscripts and other things before but have always known I didn't have a chance. This way, everyone has a chance, even if you can't spend as much as others. People who give more to the charity get a higher chance, but even if you can only give $1, you can still get one entry. It's kinda like a rafflecopter giveaway, in a sense. Do more, get more entries... but everyone can easily get at least one entry. So if you've read Prince of Thorns and fancy winning related goodies, go take a look!

The Arthur C. Clarke Award has just announced its shortlist, and it has raised some questions and controversy as the list has no female authors on it. This has sparked some very interesting discussion about women in science fiction publishing, about the accessibility of awards in general, and whether separating science fiction and fantasy into separate categories even makes sense for awards. Click the above link for a launching off point for other posts about it.

How was your week? Hope you've been reading some good books! :-)

  4. Woaah, congratulations! Also, great idea to combine all the memes. Might do that in the future, too. It's really hard to keep up with all of the memes these days, tbh. D:

    Hope you're having a great weekend! :)
